COMPETITION RULES

Please be sure to make yourself familiar with the tournament rules

 
  1. The initial stage of the tournament will be a round robin played in groups. Subsequent rounds will be a straight knockout. The number of qualifiers from each group will be determined by the number of entries.
  2. The draw will determine which group you are in and on which board you will be playing.
  3. All games are 501 straight start, double to finish and the bust rule applies.
  4. The Open Singles group matches are the best of 5 legs, Ladies Singles are the best of 3. Only the number of legs necessary to win are to be played, i.e. 3-0, 3-1 or 3-2 (2-0 or 2-1 for ladies). Two points are awarded for a win. If players are tied on the same number of points, leg difference will be taken into account and if still tied the result between the two players to determine group positions.
  5. Open singles knockout rounds are the best of 7 legs up to the quarter-finals. The quarter-finals and semi-finals are then the best of 9 legs and the final is the best of 11 legs.
  6. Ladies’ knockout rounds are the best of 5 legs up to and including the Semi-Finals, the Final is the best of 7 legs.
  7. Throwing order is determined by throwing nearest the bull, the winner to throw first in the odd legs and the loser to throw first in the even legs. The first name drawn to throw for the bull first.
  8. The marker for the group games is identified on the board sheet. The loser of the previous game is to mark in the knockout stages.
  9. The result of each game must be recorded on a result slip and taken to the results desk.

The committee reserve the right to alter the proposed number of legs as necessary to complete the competition in a timely manner

  2. All games are 501 straight start, double to finish and the bust rule applies.
  3. All games are the best of 5 legs apart from the Final which is the best of 7 legs.
  4. Throwing order is determined by throwing nearest the bull, the winning pair to throw first in the odd legs and the losing pair to throw first in the even legs. The first pair drawn to throw for the bull first.
  5. Volunteer marker for the first game, the loser of the previous game to mark subsequent games.
  6. The result of each game must be recorded on a result slip and taken to the results desk.
